RESTO MUVBOX: THE LOBSTER BOX
Homards des îles
The “lobster roll” is especially well-known on the North American East Coast - from New England to Nova Scotia, particularly in Maine. And Montreal is now rediscovering the original recipe!
In Quebec, when someone refers to “the Islands” in French they mean Îles-de-la-Madeleine. An archipelago located right in the middle of the Saint Lawrence Gulf, Îles-de-la-Madeleine has a very special ecosystem which helps to make fishing the principal industry and ultimately, shapes the Islanders' way of life.
Of all the lobster caught in Quebec, 63% comes from the Islands. Lobster accounts for 2/3 of the fishing revenues and really drives the economy of Îles-de-la-Madeleine. It generates apx $28 Million in annual revenues. The lobster harvest’s excellent reputation is well documented in the meat it yields.
Today the islands are as famous for their charming multicoloured houses as they are for lobster!
